Eric Horgan has over  20 years of world-class competitive and training experience, including multiple European, World Championship and Olympic events.  A member of Ireland's Olympic Three-Day Event team at Montreal in 1976, Eric as has competed at other major international three-day events including the 1990 World Equestrian Games in Stockholm, 1992 Burghley International Three-Day Event and the world-renowned Badminton Horse Trials.  He was the bronze medalist at the 1989 European Three-Day Event Champion-ships and is a two-time winner of the Punchestown (Ireland) International Three-Day Event.
Many horses Eric bred, trained and competed successfully in three-day eventing and in show jumping have gone on to distinguished careers with some of the leading riders in the world.  A highly respected instructor and clinician, Eric earned the British Horse Society Instructor designation in 1976.  He studied classical dressage in Germany through the international level.  He has trained riders under the auspices of the Irish Horse Board, Horse Trials Society, Pony Club and Show Jumping Association.  With a special affinity for young riders, Eric coached the Irish Junior Show Jumping Team to a European Championship silver medal, and a Pony Team to the European Team gold medal.

Eric currently coaches several riders competing at the upper levels in both eventing and dressage.  He also works with riders competing in show jumping to assist in resolving their horses' jumping problems.

Eric also serves on the Instructors' Certification Committee of the United States Eventing Association. This select committee comprised of professional instructors, coaches and active event riders has begun an important effort to develop standards for certification of instructors of eventing in the U.S.
